Quotes on Cliques

All too often we hear the comment that “Board of Directors” are run by cliques.  Upon investigation we found this to be true in the American Institute.  Furthermore, we found this clique to be composed of faithful members who are present at every meeting, who accept appointments to committees, who give willingly of their time and energy and who sincerely believe that the more one puts into his association, the more he gets out of it.  The clique can be expanded to infinity.  Let’s encourage others to join.  I believe that those who don’t take advantage of their association are at a competitive disadvantage. — Alvin P. Bean, “Are Government Controls Imminent,” Speech given to Northern CA Suppliers Association, April 25, 1966, p. 6
